We have a morning tour scheduled at the Vatican later this month and we plan to check out of our hotel before going on the tour...Check our luggage at the Vatican (I've read there is a room to check bags with no size limit) while we tour... and then head directly to the most convenient train station to get to Florence on a high speed train. We don't want to waste part of the day going back and forth across Rome. I've researched the train schedules and find a speed train to Florence from Roma Ostiense and from Roma Termini leaving at convenient times. The question is- if we are at the Vatican, which train station is most convenient for us to go to?

The FS high speed trains only stop at Termini and Tiburtina. The Italo high speed trains originate at Ostiense and may stop at Tiburtina. If you were to choose an Italo train to Florence, you'd need to allow for extra travel time by Metro to the train station.
