Hi everyone,
Traveling to Rome in August with my wife and we will be there on the first Sunday of the months. Is there any advice from fellow travelers on what to do and what to avoid since many museums and attractions are free that day?

Avoid the bigger museums, lines will be incredibly long. Smaller places will be fine, or go out to the via Appia Antica for a long walk. The hundreds of churches in Roma have ectraordinary artwork, but visitors are not admitted during Mass times.
One exception to the museums would be Galleria Borghese. Even though it is free, they still require reservations and stick to the limited number of visitors per 2-hour time slots. Tickets may already be gone but you could give it a try? Do this over the phone (they speak English).
