Rome on Dec. 25 and 26 and more ??

HI,
I'm making a trip to Paris (12/15), Florence (12/19-21) and Rome (12/23-28) later this year. I understand that it's a national holiday in Rome on Christmas Day and the day after, and that many restaurants will be closed. If you can recommend a place to eat that is open on either or both of those days, I'd appreciate it. Not to mention what else we can do when everything is closed. All other tips are welcome, too. I have't been in Europe for 35 years, so it's a whole new world for me.

Thanks,
Mob

Our first trip to Rome was in 1984; and if anything, Dec. 25 and 26 closures were more ubiquitous then than they are now. At least now you can get cash. Then, you had to stock up because banks were closed; and they were where you could exchange your travelers’ checks. (Ah, the not so good old days). And few places took cc’s.
I suggest you check out restaurants in the Jewish ghetto. Now, there are probably ethnic restaurants of other types, open as well. I seem to remember that there were a fair number of restaurants open, but it was a long time ago. You should definitely not leave it to chance. Line up reservations.
One thing we did on Xmas Eve was to go to a church where some pipers from Abruzzo came at midnight and played. I think it was S. Maria in Aracoeli; but, again, it was a long time ago.
Italy at Xmas is marvelous!
