rome, naples, amalfi coast, puglia

It looks like my husband and my Sept. visit may turn into a trip in Aug. with our 14 & 11 yr.old daughters. I would like to visit Rome, Naples, Amalfi Coast, and Puglia. How many nights would you recommend at each. If we go after Aug. 15 (national holiday), will sites be open in Naples and Rome?

We can give a better answer to your # of days question, if you give us some idea of how many total days you have, excluding your flying in and flying out days.Regarding your 2nd question, I can't think of any reason why sites in Rome and Naples would be closed the 2nd half of August--is there something that caused you to have concerns about that?

With Kids, 3 full days in Rome.
We did 4 days in Sorento and did day trips to Pompeii, Amalfi coast, Local fishing towns, and Sorento.

I had a week driving around Puglia and that was too short. I have another week in a months' time and I am still skimming the surface. Unfortunately I major in slow travel. The beach areas will be very busy in August/September. Happy planning.

WE will be there 11-12 days. Aug. 15 is Feast of the Assumption and a couple of travel books said that everybody heads out of naples for a month until Sept. 15.
