Rome museum closures

Rome museums including Borghese, Saint Angelo, and Palazzo Barberini are now closed Sundays. The colosseum, forum and palatine hill remain open except for some last minute closures for the colosseum underground tour due to lack of personnel.

Lois, what's your source for this? All their websites show that they are open on Sunday.

Are you sure? The Borghese Gallery is taking online reservations for Sundays in July.

That link that Donna posted says this is still only hypothetical and they're trying to avoid it. Here's my translation: "We are doing what is possible and adopting measures to guarantee service to the public. Eventually, those museums that will not be able to guarantee continuous hours of being open, will adopt partial opening or closing schedule of the rooms. We apologize to visitors for any inconvenience that this causes." It is dated June 1.

We have a paid for reservation at the Borghese for Sunday July 1st. Are you saying that it might be closed? What about people with reservations already?

Melanie, how did you pay? Whenever we go we call up and pay the reservation when we pick up the tickets. I've never paid in advance.

Borghese will not be open on Sunday as they are having lack of manpower on Sundays.

Here's Ron in Rome's take on it: Possible closures in museums in Rome.
