I am a college student who will be studying in Florence for 6 weeks starting mid-May. I will have Friday-Sunday to travel each week and want to make the best of my time. I would appreciate recommendations for places to stay on a budget that is safe and clean. I'm not really interested in hostels due to the lack of privacy. I will be traveling with 2 friends so we would need a triple. I'm not really sure what would be reasonable, maybe 150 EUR a night. Any suggestions and guidance would be greatly appreciated. booking.com is really easy to use, you can indicate which type of room you would like and narrow it down by price, neighborhood, and other amenities.....

My husband and I (in our twenties) stayed in hotel Italia Roma and we found it very comfortable and affordable. They have triple rooms that might be a good fit for you?

Don't write off hostels totally. Some might have a triple or quad room you could buy out for yourselves, and these sometimes have an attached bathroom, so they can be equivalent to inexpensive hotels.
I like the places found on EuroCheapo. Here's their city list; Milan, Rome and Venice are all on it: http://www.eurocheapo.com/allcities.html. Note that for each city, they have a overview of neighborhoods, which is very handy if you're booking a place found on another site. Be aware that many of their "finds" are not secrets, so you may have to book in advance to get space.
