Rome Metro and Bus Ticket Didn't Stamp on Metro

Hi, I purchased a one week CIS ticket from a machine, when I tried to use it at the metro it was initially rejected with an error, but it eventually let me through. It did not put a stamp on the ticket, however. I rode the metro later that day and it did not stamp it then either. Will they be able to check that it has actually been validated without a stamp, just like the turnstiles seem to be doing? What are thr chances they will fine me anyways?

You can write the date and time of first use on the ticket, that may help.

But are you sure it didn't stamp? Sometimes I can barely see the stamp on a ticket.

And yes, you will get fined if the ticket is inspected and no stamp is found.

If it is being rejected, I would stop at a ticket office to make sure it is the correct ticket. Odd that it is being reject at to random sites. Even if the stamp is very little or almost no ink, there is generally a slight impression in the heavy stock ticket. You can feel it even if you cannot see it. If nothing is happening, something is wrong. I would not continue to use that ticket until I solved that problem. If you have the wrong ticket, they will fine you.

There's an Atac information desk on the lower level of Termini, near the Metro turnstiles and ticket machines (track 24 side of station one level below track level). That may be a good place to inquire.

That said, your pass would be rejected at the Metro turnstiles if not validated. The fact that it wasn't time-stamped on the second use suggests that the system thinks it's already been validated and time-stamped. Not sure whether the ticket inspectors only do a visual inspection or can also check electronically for validation, but it's best to get the matter resolved before that happens.
