This hotel is fairly far out. Contact them directly or Marriott and inquire about the shuttle services. There appears to be one and a train station near by the hotel.

For a "Rome experience" don't stay here. It's too far outside the city, it's a 1/2 mile walk to the Muratella train station, it sits on the GRA (ring road), and once you're out there... well, you'll be eating in the hotel restaurant. All good reasons NOT to stay here! Using Mariott points, your best bet is the Marriott Rome Grand Flora on Via Veneto. Otherwise save your points for another city!

I think I would have to agree with Ron about staying at this hotel. Although free sounds good, this hotel is so far out that it would seem more of a hassle. You may not be able to enjoy good dinners in Rome, stroll through the streets at night, experience staying in the city, etc. since you have to get back to your hotel. Besides, the cost of travel back and forth adds up fast. You are going all the way there, why not spend another $400 and get a room in the city and save your points for another time (I'm assuming you are using points here). If you don't have a choice about staying, then use their shuttle, and if there are a couple of you, use taxis to get back to your hotel since they can be somewhat economical in Rome.
