I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions about good places to stay in Rome? We will be there for 4 nights - have a 9am flight out from Rome so need to be someplace that will be easy to get an early morning train to the airport. Looking for something in the $100-$150 Euro rate if possible. Thanks!
We booked Hotel Smeraldo near the Pantheon as recommeded by Rick's book. It's 130 Euro's per night and the communication with them by email has been fast. http://www.smeraldoroma.com/about.htm
We stayed at Hotel Smeraldo in June, and we loved it and the area, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. However, if you're looking for someplace to catch an early morning train, I would recommend staying someplace very close to the Termini, which Hotel Smeraldo is not.
We liked staying at Hotel Smeraldo as well--the location near Campo de fiori is great. They arranged for a taxi to take us to the Termini train station so that we could get to the airport for a morning flight.
We have stayed in the Hotel Sonya, Aberdeen, and Contilia. Should be in that price range. All within a five minute walk of Termini.
Hi, Caroe, have you given any thought to B&B?

We stayed at Residenza Argentina which is quite close to Hotel Smeralda. We absolutely loved it - small, quaint, personal service, clean, safe, great breakfast, etc. I posted a review on TripAdvisor that you might find useful:
Hope this helps.
