Rome-La Spezia Train

I am looking at the Trenitalia site for tickets from Rome-La Spezia on a Monday in July. I realize my issue may just be that tickets aren't posted yet, but I'm not sure what the message I am getting means and cannot seem to find an explanation on the website. The train we would like to take (and several others that same day, but not all) says " The travel solution is not sellable because there is a segment without services." Does this mean it will never be an option? Or that it currently is not an option until there is a train for a segment of the trip? The train we are looking at does not require a change. I am just wondering if we need to try to change our plans or if these trains will eventually be available? Thanks!

Thanks, will do! There is a 58 euro fare (total for 2 travelers) posted now for Venice - Rome in July. Is it conceivable that cheaper fares will be posted in June or should we go ahead and book?

Are you looking at the IC 520 from Roma Ostiense at 9:50? It appears they are just not selling July tickets for that train yet. You can buy them for June travel (and get a nice mini fare) but it is too soon for July. That would be after the mid-June new schedules, and Trenitalia is notorious for being late loading those into the website, although they have been managing to get the Le Frecce trains (ES trains) on there pretty well.

If you enter 16 April as your departure date on the Trenitalia site, you'll see a complete list of trains that go from Rome to La Spezia. The new timetables that will go into effect on 10 June will only change by a few minutes, if at all. Do the same for the other trains you wish to take.

Perfect. Thank you! I was looking at the 6:57am train. I figured that was the case, but the tickets for the week prior from Venice - Rome are already on sale, so I wanted to check. I really appreciate the input and will keep my eye on tickets!

Kristen, That's a regular train route, so the trains should absolutely be available. The schedules for 1 July have probably not been loaded yet, so it's quite conceivable they haven't got all the segments worked out yet. I briefly checked the Trenitalia website, using next Monday (16 April) and there are numerous trips shown, as well as prices. Some of the trains are direct and some have a couple of changes. The travel times for the direct trains vary a bit, with the shortest at about 3H:41M (that's for a departure at 08:10). I can't remember the exact date, but I believe the new schedules will be loaded about mid-June. If you wanted to pre-purchase a "Mini" ticket, watch the website at that time. Buon Viaggio!

Hi Kristen. That's a great fare. From my experience, fares go up as seats sell, but I've never seen them go down. If you are comfortable locking in the date and time, I would suggest you book. Enjoy your trip!

That sounds like a 29-euro mini fare. It is not going to go down, only up. Best book while you can still get it. Those mini fares start as alow as 9 euros for a few seats, then go to 19 euros, then 29, and so on. So you should book before the 29 euro seats are all sold and it goes up to 39.
