Rome Itinerary Travel Question

In one jam packed, my wife and I will be hitting the follow spots in these order. Now we will not have the Roma Pass due to the fact that our Colosseum tour covers our ticket, so I ran the numbers and it really doesn't make sense for us to purchase it after that based on what we want to see. Below is our itinerary for one day, and I was hoping you could help me on what is the best way for us to get from each location (note: we are two young people who are able to walk alot if that makes most sense):
1) Starting point--Spanish Steps area where our hotel is
2) Heading to Trajan's Market first thing in the morning
-Debating cab or bus to get here (I'm thinking since time is an issue a cab will our best bet)
3) After Trajan's Market, heading to Capitoline Hill
-Appears to be about a 10 minute walk, so I would assume that's our best bet
4) After Capitoline Hill, heading to the Colosseum for our 10am tour
-Appears to be about a 10 minute walk again, so provided we have enough time, I assume walking is the best option here as long as there is an accessible walking route and we are not pressed for time. If not, would we take a cab? And are they easy to find from Capitoline Hill?
5) Colosseum tour ends at Roman Forum, then will head to the Jewish Ghetto
-Another 10 minute walk, so that seems to be the logical choice
6) From the Jewish Ghetto, will head to Trastevere
-5 minute walk, so walk there AGAIN (man, we will get a workout)
7) Finally after Trastevere, will head back to the Spanish Steps and will probably elect some form of public transportation because I assume we will be DRAINED. Which is best, cab or bus? And are they easy to find?

This is going to be one heck of a long day, but our time in rome is limited, so we are looking to see as much as we can. Thanks for any tips!

I think your walking times are off.

Trajans markets are just across the street from the Capitolini but if you want to go inside you'll need more than just a few minutes to get to the capitolini. It's about a 20 minute walk. A cab won't be much quicker given the traffic in the area. You actually enter the sites from the back side, not the side that faces the via dei fori imperiali. You'll have to walk all the way around to get back to the capitolini.

From the capitolini to the colosseum is about 10-15 minutes down the Via de fori imperiali. Very easy.

From the colosseum to the ghetto is at least 15-20 minutes depending on where you wish to go. Could be more depending on traffic.

From the ghetto area to trastevere is about 20 minutes.

Thank you for the advice. Given your suggestion I'll try and allow for a little longer that I estimated to get from each point. My main concern is just to make sure I allow enough time in the morning when I see Trajan's Market & Capitoline Hill before our tour at the Colosseum beings at 9:45am. So in your opinion, if we leave our hotel by Spanish Steps around 7:30am and take a cab to Trajan's Market (hopefully arrive around 7:45am). This will then allow about an hour and a half to wander around Trajan's Market and Capitoline Hill before we have to leave to begin our walk at 9:15 (in order to make sure we are at the meeting point by 9:45am).

In your opinion, is 1.5hours enough time to wander around Trajan's Market and Capitoline Hill. We are not looking to see every item in these areas, just mainly looking to take in the sites and catch some of the big highlights. Thanks!

Trajan's Markets open at 9am, so if you want to look at it from the street, your timetable is fine. Trastevere is just across the bridge from the Ghetto, so 10 minutes to walk there should do it. If you end up near Campo dei Fiori or the Pantheon, you could take the #116 minibus through the historic center (validate your ticket on the bus).

Is this your first time to Rome? Here is how I would do this: Take Rick Steve's walk across Rome from the Spanish steps to the Trevi Fountain (throw in your coins), starting nice and early (7:30 or before). Go to the Pantheon which opens at 8:30, and the spectacular Piazza Navona. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Colosseum, so you have time to get to your tour. After your Colosseum tour, then walk the forum. If you go from the Colosseum end toward the Capitoline hill you will finish very close to Trajan's market, from where you can walk to Capitoline Hill, a nice little loop. The museums would take at least couple of hours. For a great view of Rome go to the top of the Victor Emmanuel Monument (the Wedding Cake). What is your objective in going to Trastevere and Jewish Ghetto? Although they have an interesting history, they aren't the most exciting places to go for a single day in Rome. I would skip those for a single museum, the Borghese Galleria, close to your hotel! This is a compact and incredible museum, packed with the work of the most famous Italian artists in the setting of a gorgeous mansion. You need a time-specific reservation, and it takes a minimum of an hour. If there was any way to spend a little more time in Rome, I would sure do it, and take a tour of the Vatican!

An aside...MapEasy's Guidemap to Rome is tremendous, and has been a huge help on our trips to Rome! It really helps you see where you are going.

Best wishes for a great trip!

I would also do the Borghese Gallery if you haven't been there before, if you have a second day. Get ticks in advance. Yes to the Collesium and Forum. Dinner in the Jewish Ghetto at Da Giggetto would round off the day, so I would end up in that part of town, and if your tour of the Colosseum was in the evening, even better.
