Rome, Italy - apartment lodging for family

Planning to stay 3-5 nights in Rome next year in April during Easter and looking for recommendations as to apartments to rent for a family of 4 (2 adults + boy 11, girl 10). Ideal bed situation would be 2+1+1 but could go 2+2 if necessary. As for locations in Rome, was considering areas near Vatican, Campo De Fiori, Piazza Narona, Piazza San Pietro or Piazza Cavalleggeri..

Will check RoomOrama, HomeAway and VRBO but open to other sites and suggestions if anyone can recommend actual apartments.

Check with Hotel Alimandi Tunisi. Across from the entrance to the Vatican museum. They now have a little bed and breakfast, with two bedrooms I believe. Never stayed in the apartment, but have used the Tunisi many times. Nice neighborhood and great restaurant in the residential neighborhood in back of the hotel. Piacere Molise. Via Candia 60. They don't speak much English, as it's pretty much a locals place. Pizza is fab, and so are tne entre's.
Down that same street is another pizzeria (not the one directly across where the tour busses drop off the hoardes), that has a wood burning oven "Forno al legna" which is almost always an indication of a superior pizza.

What a great trip for your family!

Check RonInRome.com for anything to do about Rome.

He is an Atlanta area ex patriot that lived over there for awhile.

Ron has a great section on accommodations.
I have got to where most reservations are made through Booking.com or directly with the hotel by internet.

We stayed at VRBO 194513, not far from Piazza Navona. It was great for two couples and would be good for a family as well. The owner is easy to work with and lives close by. Look it up and PM me if you have any questions.

Also check out airbnb.com. We rented an apartment through that site this past May and it was great. A little too tiny for four, though. (By the way, you mention the Vatican, Piazza San Pietro and I assume you mean Porta Cavvalleggeri. Do you realize those are all the same area?)

I can highly recommend a VRBO property, 215521. It is the 2 bedroom 2 bath penthouse in a building right on Campo dei Fiori and in the middle of everything. Fiora, the owner, is wonderful to deal with (tell her Celeste sent you!) and there is plenty of room for your family. However, being a penthouse, you have to walk 76 steps to get to it. We felt that was pay-off for all the gelato we ate!

We rented Rental 258065 on the Home Away website las August for our family of 5 and we couldn't have been happier with the rental and the location! It is in the heart of the Jewish ghetto.

Stay away from Friendly Rentals. I like the area around Campo di Fiori.
