Considering that you're going to Rome, Florence and Venice, you really should pick up a copy of the RS Italy book. They're loaded with lodging suggestions for all price ranges and will help you plan your days there efficiently. And do take a minute to proofread your postings before you finish them. This looks like you typed it with your nose. :-)

You are right. I type worth crap. Thanks for suggestion. I will get the book. With only two days before we head to Florence, I was thinking somewhere in the train terminal area would be best???

Well, prices are definitely lower around Termini. Check out The Beehive, a low cost option popular here. The Beehive. They have more than one location, all near Termini. Don't be put off by the reference to a hostel. That's only one of their options.

With two days you're certainly not limited to "just the Roma Termini" area, although it is perhaps among the least expensive. Michael's recommendation of the Beehive is spot on - it offers great prices and a clean and safe environment. Due to its popularity, it often fills up quickly. For other options in Rome, I pulled up this Booking.com list. It details all the QUAD room options in Rome, rated from best-to-worst by Booking.com guests. There are more than 399 QUAD options - So plenty to choose from. Getting to Roma Termini Station from anywhere in town is easily done by Regionale train, metro, bus, and even taxi if necessary.

Paul, I usually prefer to stay in the Termini area, as it's so convenient for transportation. There are lots of nice Hotels and Restaurants in that area. It's good to hear that you'll be picking up a copy of the Italy 2012 Guidebook, as it contains a wealth of information. You may want to pack it along on the trip. I've found that the book is often useful for reference for sightseeing or transportation during trips. Happy travels!
