Rome[INVALID]statute of Virgin Mary on cross?

I read somewhere that in one of the churches there is a statute of Mary ON the cross.....sounds strange. Can anyone tell me where, if there is such a thing. Thanks!

I've never heard of any statue of Mary on a cross, any other clues you can provide? I can think of Saint Helena holding a cross in St. Peter's Basilica. Other than that, lots of Mary statues, the most famous possibly being the Pietà by Michelangelo also in St. Peter's. I can't think offhand of any statues of women on the cross, although there may very well be some.

Some time ago I read that it was in Santa Maria Maggiore church? (not sure of that, trying to remember). It doesn't seem possible but who knows

Yes, Fredrica - you just beat me to it; I was searching for a photo. Jesus on one side, Mary on the other. It's outside...somewhere...

There is a beautiful nativity sculpture in Santa Maria Maggiore, that's one of my favorite basilicas. The artwork in there is pretty well documented though and can be found online in various places, here's one - romanchurches.wikia.com/wiki/SantaMariaMaggiore

Oh, that statue, I though you meant in a crucifixion pose not a statue of Mary which is hung on a cross, which is a bit different. I forgot about that statue outside, we both thought it was an odd statue as it really doesn't seem to work all together, at least not for us.
