Rome in December

We are planning a trip to Italy this December and will be in Rome from the 5th to the 10th. I am trying to book tickets to St. Peter's Basilica with access to the Dome for 5 adults on the 6th. Does anyone know when these tickets go on sale? I looked today, Oct 7 and it says they are not available. The site I am looking on is basilicasanpietro.va. Thank you for any help you can give me.

December is a great time to be in Rome. The Christmas lights should already be up by Dec 8th or so which is beautiful.

Another good thing is you don't have to worry about crowds or things selling out so don't stress about the tickets. You could also just show up at 8am, online it says the Dome opens at 7:30am, and grab tickets in person. Again, early December is really slow.

If you're really worried and don't want to wait, some tour companies sell tours that visit the Dome. We did a tour with The Roman Guy, aka The Tour Guy, which was really good. We didn't do the Dome climb, but some friends did. https://theromanguy.com/tours/italy/vatican.

It looks like they are available about 4 weeks out. Not to worry. You'll get them. It's not a high-demand ticket at that time of year.
