Rome in 7 Days, Day 2 itinerary/Ancient Rome

I'll be on the upcoming Rick Steves trip to Rome. I've reviewed the itinerary for the 7 day trip. I see that day 2 is titled, "Ancient Rome". It includes a tour of St.Peter-in-Chains Church and then says, "we'll hear about tales of the Colosseum and the Forum" It then says, "you're on your own for the rest of the day".

My question: Does "hearing about the Colosseum and the Forum" include an actual tour of the Colosseum and the Forum?
If it doesn't I'll try to get tickets for a tour of the Colosseum and the Forum on my own. I just wanted clarification before doing that.

It's best that you call the RS office for that info, especially as the Colosseum ticketing procedures changed in 2024, and there's uncertainty all around regarding the new system. Good luck!

To be honest, a lot of people miss that. Count yourselves lucky that you will get to see the interior of the Colosseum as part of your RSE Tour. The other 5 Tours that include Rome will only get to see the exterior of the Colosseum. We were on the VFR Tour last October and got to see the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, as well as a tour of the Colosseum. I'm hoping that, once the new ticketing measures get sorted, these can be added back into the Itineraries of all the tours.
