Rome in 2 1/2 days

Staying near the Colliseum. Plan on doing Ancient Rome on Day 1. Possibly RS's night walking tour that evening. Villa Borghese and and a repeat short visit to the Vatican on the second day. What would you recommend for the morning of the third day? Am I in walking distance, except for the Vatican? Thinking of taking cabs to and from the Vatican.

Consider visiting the Pantheon or the Capitoline Museum.

I would go to the Pantheon and then walk over to the Piazza Navona and the Campo di Fiori. You can easily do that in one morning.

The others have given you great suggestions. I would say it depends on what you are in the mood for?

More ancient sights? Consider Capitoline Museum or the National Museum of Rome.

More churches? Consider St. Peters' in Chains (near the Colliseum), or doing Rick's tour of the 4 "big churches" in the area.

Exploring the city? Visit Trastevere or Piazza Navona.

If you want something completely different, consider the Cappuchin Crypt aka the bone church.

If you are a good walker, you should be able to walk everywhere except the Vatican and perhaps the Borghese pretty easily. For the first, I would suggest the bus or taking the metro to the Vatican stop. For the Borghese, I would suggest the bus or a cab. We took the metro and it was rather confusing.

We also took the metro to the Spanish Steps and did our RS walk in reverse. If you decide to go to Trastevere, you will probably want a bus.
