Rome hotels using priceline

I am trying to save money on my trip to Italy this summer. I would like to use priceline to get a 4* hotel at lower rates. Priceline gives the following options for areas and I'm not sure which to choose. Any advice??

Central

Vatican City

West

North

South

priceline.com/hotels/…

Thanks!!!

I agree with Michael--central would be a safe bid. Never used PL for Rome but we have had excellent luck in Madrid, Vienna, and Zurich and hope to have the same good luck in London soon.

Not surprisingly, the "Central" option shuld give you most access to the most popular sights, unless you want to focus on the Vatican. Heaven only knows what Priceline means by West, North and South.

Came across this web site recently: www.biddingfortravel.com. People give feedback about priceline deals. There's a heading under Italy you can look up and click on Italy Hotels. Lists some Rome hotels by: Central, West, etc. I've never used priceline but this site may be helpful to you.

I just looked at the maps on priceline. I would only bid on Central. The other areas look to be too far away. The only benefit would be if you bid at the 5-star level, because only the central area has them, so you can safely add the other areas to greatly increase your bidding options - if you dont understand that, then read up on bidding for travel, where they explain bidding strategies.

You may well get a 5-star hotel at a nearly the same rate you would get a 4-star. If you add the 4-star level, just make sure you are only bidding on the central area.
