Rome Hotels suggestions

After spending a week based in Venice, we are dividing up the final week with an Umbrian hilltown (not sure which yet) and Rome, where we flight out. Any suggestions for Rome Hotels or B&Bs? And, any suggestions for any hilltown hotels or B&Bs? Much appreciated!

I would highly recommend Orvieto as your Umbrian hilltown. One bonus is that it's very easy to get to Rome from Orvieto. Photos from our trip there in 2011 are here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjvcWE1Q

Which neighborhood in Rome are you considering?

We just returned from Italy and spent a few days each in Orvieto and Assisi. In Orvieto we stayed at B&B La Magnolia, which we can highly recommend. In Assisi we stayed at Hotel JFI Hermitage, which we can also highly recommend. You can check them both at tripadvisor and booking.com. I would have a hard time picking between the two. We stayed in Rome also but can't recommend any hotel there.

Any other suggestions for an Orvieto hotel or B&B? The one recommended it booked. Have one for Rome well in hand.

I stayed at Hotel Duomo in Orvieto and enjoyed it. Great location just at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the square surrounding the Duomo.

In five trip to Rome we have used either Sonya or Aberdeen in the Termini area. We prefer the Termini area for restaurants and convenience to transit. Wife prefers Sonya because she thinks the lattes are better but only by a small margin.

Two weeks ago we were in Rome and we stayed in this great hotel very close to Trevi Fountain, "Hotel de Petris" , very inexpensive (64 euros). The rooms were very modern, spacious , clean and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

We just returned and stayed in Orvieto at Antica Olivia, just outside of Orvieto. LOVED IT! Daniela and Marco are the best hosts in their B&B. We felt like we were forever friends and their food was amazing. I highly recommend their home. When you leave, make sure and purchase their olive oil! Yummy!
