Rome hotels near Pantheon

Hello. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions on hotels/B&B near Pantheon or Pantheon to north of colosseum region. Looking at trying to keep to less than $175/night (preferably closer to 150). thanks

Go to
www.bedandbreakfast.it
and type
Pantheon
Colosseum
Trevi Fountain
Spanish Steps
or any other point of interest in the Search bar.

A whole list of B and Bs near the site of choice will appear. Top of list is closer to site; as you scroll down, places get farther away from site. Meter distance should appear. Prices are very economical, pictures give a good idea of rooms and amenities. Many staff know English.

2 people. 1st week of June. My only concern with B&B's is: are there someone there to ask questions regarding local sites, and help call to make reservations as if staying in a hotel.

At some smaller B&Bs, you may see the owner at check-in and check-out, so have your questions ready. Others will have staff there in the morning when breakfast is served but not later. Some will be staffed all day. If you want to rely on someone being around, I suggest staying at a hotel with 24-hour staffing.

Some hotels are mixed in with the B and B list. So it's worth a look at the list.

I use the B and B list exclusively. I've mostly had whole B and B castles to myself in hill towns out in the country. If I needed help, I would walk to the town padrone (town father) and he would help me.

In cities like Rome, everybody associated with the B and B pitches in to help. I've had housekeepers, handymen, porters, as well as desk clerks, all contribute to make my stay a good one.

Hopefully other posters more familiar with hotels can help you out.

Check out hotel Smeraldo. I stayed at a different hotel near Smeraldo. Smeraldo is a RS recommendation for lower cost and still clean and decent. It's next to Largo Argentina on the map. This is a GREAT location for Rome. About a 3-4 minute walk to Pantheon and Campo dei Fiori, etc.. Safe neighborhood.

Don't know if it will fit your budget, but we were very happy with our two stays at the Hotel Accademia. Literally around the corner from the Trevi Fountain, it's a very easy walk to the Pantheon and just about everywhere else we wanted to go.

Try LA MAISON D'ART SUITE, Via Piè di Marmo, 16. It is a small hotel within an apartment building. Eleonora was incredible, mapped out some restaurants, answered all our questions, arranged for a car hire to the airport the day we left, which was perfect. Price may be closer to $200. Right around the corner from the Pantheon and included an awesome breakfast for the price. Have a great trip, we were there in September last year.

We have stayed at Hotel Fontanella Borghese many times and have always been pleased. While it is not "luxury", it is very nice and the location is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk to Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Nuvona, even Vatican city. They also have a sister hotel closer to the Pantheon called Hotel Due Torri. We always send an email directly with our request for a booking and we get an answer back in 24 hours or less. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard as rooms overlooking the side street can get noisy. The web site is www.fontanellaborghese.com. Check it out and see what you think. We've spent quite a bit of time in Rome so let me know if you need specific info. TC

We recently enjoyed a stay at the Albergo Cesari, located on a small back street between the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain, about a 5 minute walk to each. It's a small (48 room) family-run hotel that's been owned by the same family since 1787. When we arrived at 11:30 p.m., the desk clerk greeted us by name, which felt very welcoming after a long day of travel, and when we inquired whether any restaurants in the area were still open, he got on the phone and called a couple, then told us that a restaurant a block away, about to close for the night, would stay open for us and was preparing a table in the outdoor seating area. The hotel has a rooftop terrace where a bountiful breakfast buffet is served each morning, included in the cost of the room. This hotel offered everything we look for in a hotel when we are traveling in Europe. It is small, family-run, clean, friendly, centrally located, and reasonable in cost. Booking 11 months in advance, when lots of rooms were avilable, we got our room for 99 Euro per night. When I called to confirm our reservation a few days before our departure, the hotel offered us pick up service from the airport for 50 Euro. We turned it down but should have acepted, as we spent that much for both of us to take the the train from the airport to Termini station and then to take a cab to the hotel.
