Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels in Rome for first time visitors and the part of the city to stay in? I have looked over RS book and still confused. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Brad, In Rome, I stayed at Hotel Smeraldo and definitely enjoyed my stay there. It is very well located, a very short walk to Campo de Fiori. Piazza Navona as well as the Pantheon were only a few minutes walk away, with the Colosseum/Forum at a walkable distance. The room I had was a little on the small side, but it was modern, clean and well kept. The service was great and the price was reasonable.
We normal stay in the Termini area. We like it for convenience to Termini and local transit. It is about on the edge but still walkable to everything except the Vatican. We like it for local restaurants but think the area is a little gritty. Have used Aberdeen and Sonya. Nice hotels will great breakfast.
We recently stayed in the Termini area. The Hotel Selene and Aberdeen. Both were priced right, nice hotels and easy to get to.
I prefer the Piazza Navona/Pantheon/Campo dei Fiori area. Hotel asmeraldo is good, less expensive is Hotel Genio (great location, rooftop views, good breakfast but it's a little worn in some rooms).
Thanks for the suggestions.
brad, I agree with Frank, and also prefer the Termini area. If you want good comfortable hotels with great staff that serve a nice breakfast, you might consider Hotel Sonya or Hotel Aberdeen. They're also used by RS tours, so that's a good indication of the quality. They're both in the Termini area.
Hi, We stayed at Hotel Memphis. Convenient to Barberini metro station. We could also walk to the Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain. It was clean, price was reasonable. Thanks, Mary
Zoe, Did you mean Hotel Smeraldo?
