Rome hotel recommendation

We are going to Italy in June and are trying to decide on a hotel for the Rome portion of our trip. Does anyone have any recommendations? I’ve found one I like near the Trevi Fountain but wanted to find out what others recommend. . Is that a good area to stay in? We’ve never been to Rome.

I do not usually make hotel or food recommendations , but this hotel , a short walk from Termini in a quiet location is a favorite . We have stayed there twice - once in 2012 , and just this past September . Beautifully maintained , it is immaculate and has not aged at all in six years . https://www.iqhotelroma.it/en/

I am now in Rome and very happy with my hotel choice. It is Hotel Piazza Venezia. As reasons: 1st is location, everything(almost) close witheen walking distance. Conditions are for strong 4 stars.

The Trevi Fountain area is very good. Also look at Navona, Pantheon and Campo dei Fiori. Transportation is good in those areas, If you use booking.com you can add those areas as your search filter. Avoid Termini as it is not as atmospheric and the Vatican area is far from other sites.

Once, it was relaxing to stay in the Trevi area of Rome. Now, it is tourist central, and for my money, hotels and apartments a little out from the area are preferred. I'd stay closer to Termini or to Corso Cavour.

Don't know how their rates at that time will mesh with your budget, but here is a place you should check out. We have stayed at Hotel Fontanella Borghese many times and have always been pleased. While it is not "luxury", it is very nice and the location is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can walk to Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Nuvona, even Vatican city. They also have a sister hotel closer to the Pantheon called Hotel Due Torri. We always send an email directly with our request for a booking and we get an answer back in 24 hours or less. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard as rooms overlooking the side street can get noisy. The web site is www.fontanellaborghese.com. Check it out and see what you think.

I liked the Hotel San Carlo, near the Spanish Steps, on a recent RS tour. The roof terrace, where they serve a good breakfast, would be very nice in June. The air conditioning seemed good, though I didn't really put it to the test in October. The Spagna Metro station is a couple of blocks away. I stayed four extra nights after the tour and the staff were friendly and helpful.
