Hi, looking for a nice, safe hotel close to the Colosseum. Husband and I will be traveling in September to Rome!
I traveled with family last year, and we loved Nerva Boutique Hotel, overlooking the Imperial Forum and just a stone's throw from the Colosseum. A bit of a splurge, but lovely rooms, a kind staff, a great breakfast, and walking distance to many great restaurants (and just down the block from Flor, our favorite gelato in the neighborhood!)
OOPS, EDITED TO CORRECT--We stayed at Lancelot on the street Capo d'Africa, with our Rick Steves tour. Nice breakfast, great staff, comfortable, clean. It is a couple blocks from the Colosseum.
Another approach: There is a Rome Metro stop right near the Colosseum, so you could also just pick a hotel within a block or so of a Metro station on that line.
Curious as to why you want to be near the Colosseum?
IMO there are better locations. We prefer near Pantheon- which is basically the center of the historic center. You can walk everywhere from there.
Use booking.com, set the filters for location, budget, amenities, etc.
Read the reviews- which can only be left by those who have stayed at the property.
