I am traveling to Rome this summer with my family (husand, children 14 & 15). I am looking for hotel recommendations for the 4 of us (preferably in one room). Ideally, we would like to stay in the Piazza Navona or Campo area. Any recommendations - I am open to other areas if there are good recommendations.
Thanks.
My sister stayed at Residenza Canali, Via Tre Archi (which I believe is near the Piazza Navona) last year and thought it was great. Friends who go to Italy at least once a year recommended it to her. My husband and I are booked there in May. They also made arrangements to pick us up at the airport.
Smeraldo,near Campo de Fiori
You don't mention a budget but you can try the Hotel Smeraldo, the Albergo del Senato, the Grand de la Minerve and the Capo D'Africa which is next to the colosseum. All are really great hotels. Be sure to look for a quad room as the rooms are booked by number of people staying there. Donna
I stayed at Eurostar on Via Nazionale when I was in Rome some 4 years ago. It was very close to the Colliseum and Victor Emanuel monument. Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and Pantheon were all within a 20-30 minute walk. I am sure there are better options but it might be worth a look.
There are so many fine hotels in this area - and as Donna mentioned, you did not say anything about budget! This is "THE" place to stay and prices can sometimes reflect that, but there are some value conscious accommodations if you search. For some examples of the "best-rated" in the area, based on venere and booking.com guests, you might look at these two lists: the Pantheon and Piazza Navona areas. There's a link in each article to also rate the areas by price, which many help if your budget-conscious. A QUAD room in this part of town could be a challenge, as many of the facilities are smaller. Not sure how long you'll be in town, or your needed level of support, but you might also look at apartments in the area for 4 people.
Check AirBnB.com, Booking.com or Venere.com for reservations online. There are also a # of other websites that you can reserve rooms from. Quads are commonly available. You can also go to the library and checkout one of the big travel books, like Rick Steves. My first trip to Rome is Easter weekend, and I am staying at the #1 B&B in the Rome area, 20 miles out of town. We'll be taking a 30 minute train ride to Termini. Have a great trip!
Thank you to all for your suggestions. I am checking them all out and hope to book one this evening.
Be sure to use Google Streetview to check out the area immediately around the hotel. We avoided booking at one hotel after seeing that it was immediately on top of a McDonalds.
