Rome hotel and airport info

I usually book on www.venere.com or www.booking.com You can find rooms by location. Just about all hotels in Italy offer a breakfast, and unless you are going to a hostel, all room have bathrooms that a private.

Feel free to stay IN Rome the last night and take a taxi to the airport. At 5:30AM, there should be no traffic, and the ease of having the cab drop you right off at the correct terminal is wonderful. Just tell the front desk the night before what time you need a cab. i've found them to be very reliable.

You could stay at a hotel at the airport, but then you'd miss out on your last night in Rome.

Not the cheapest, but you asked about the best way to the airport. We can not say enough good things about Rome Cabs. It is a private car service (not a cab company) but only cost about 10 Euro more than a regular taxi. We always use them and have always been very pleased. Go to romecabs.com and see what you think. We send an email and they answer us with a quote within 24 hours. You do have to pay cash (Euros) and the end of the journey but not in advance. The problem with having the hotel make arrangements is that you might wind up with a regular cab, a car service, or the desk clerk's brother in law. Happened to us once but there were four of us and only one brother in law so there wasn't a problem.

I agree with Ellen. Use a taxi arranged by the hotel. We have never had a problem as the hotel generally has an established relationship with the taxi company. Our taxis have always been five to ten minutes early. Assuming an 8am departure is a connecting flight in Europe, you should be at the airport by 6.30. At that time of morning it will be 30 mins by cab. We use Hotel Sonya near Termini most of the time and Aberdeen a couple of times. While all hotels may have breakfasts, the quality is not the same. AND most likely breakfast will not be available at 5.30. Sonya in the past has always make us a little doggy bag when we had an early departure.
