If you stay at either the Beehive or Hotel Cervia (or really anywhere in a 10-15 min walk of Termini) and are trying to keep your costs down, do check out the small grocery downstairs in Termini. We would get a salad, fresh bread and a bottle of wine every other night for about 12 euros for two and would take that back to the hotel. If you plan ahead, you can get some good breakfast supplies there also.

I have stayed at Hotel Cervia Roma a couple times. The location is nice, far enough from Termini that you get a way from the craziness immediately around it yet conveniently close. If you get one of the single rooms with shared bath you may get assigned a spot up lots of stairs as I did my first stay there. I don't mind climbing some stairs to save some dough so it worked just fine for me. I'll stay there again the next time I am in Rome though I am guessing it is not as "refined" as some tourists may want. The Beehive is the only other spot I have personal knowledge of the would be suggested. They have dorm rooms for a low cost and are even closer to Termini. I think about two blocks or so away if my memory is correct.

Thanks Mike, will check out the suggestions, I would prefer a private room, but may end up at the Beehive dorm, many good reviews on Tripadvisor, for what its worth.

I stayed at Hotel Katty in the Termini area last November. The rate for a single room ensuite was 52 Eu. I got a 3Eu discount for paying cash. There is an elevator, locked entrance door, friendly English-speaking desk crew, Wifi, refrig, TV, etc. It's quiet and there are numerous restaurants/bars in the area. My room even had a tiny balcony with flowering plants. www.hotelkatty.it In that area there are numerous budget hotels/hostels.

You don't say when you'll be there. Low season is obviously easier to do at 60E than high season.
