We are staying a full week in Rome and would like a hotel recommendation. Preferably at least 4star but a larger room/suite.
Quieter location if possible. Main thing is to have a bit of space for that amount of time and good bathroom and bed.
Given those criteria, and throwing in an excellent breakfast, and it sounds like money is not an issue, I had all those requirements in a room, not a suite, at the Sofitel. Just off the Via Veneto, close to the Spanish Steps and the southern entrance to the Borghese park, so close to the Gallery, too. Very close to the shopping areas. Friendly helpful staff.
U do not mention price. 4 star amenities come with a hefty price espec in Rome.
We love the Hotel Lancelot, which is in a quiet neighborhood and offers incredible hospitality. Ask for an upper floor room with a terrace and a view of the Colosseum!
I have not stayed but my brother just recommended hotel Rose since I will be there in July, unfortunately too much $$ for me (300-350/night), but he is an executive that stays there or Westin ($$$$) when in Rome - which is often.
Stars in Italy are given for amenities offered: elevators, swimming pools, fitness rooms, etc., not necessarily for levels of service. So you can have a 4-star hotels with small bedrooms.
