Mary, I've never stayed there. For reviews, you might check TripAdvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d229094-Reviews-Courtyard_Rome_Central_Park-Rome_Lazio.html Just by way of observation, the fact that they have a free shuttle is nice, but if you plan to do other things while in the city it might be a bit of a hassle. It is located rather outside the city center, with the nearest metro stop being a good hike away. While there are surely buses that serve that area, it will involve a long bus trip into the city on a bus that stops a lot. Another question to ask is: on what schedule does their shuttle operate? It could be that it makes one off and one pick up a day and that might not afford you the level of flexibility you need. On the other hand, perhaps it does multiple trips a day or works on request. That would obviously be better. If all you plan to do is go to the Vatican, and the hotel shuttle operates on a schedule that is convenient for you, and you have a positive impression from the online hotel reviews, then go for it. But otherwise, you may want to try to find something that is closer to the speedier forms of public transit (i.e.a metro) or otherwise in the city center. Good luck.

IMO, you want to stay near the center of Rome. That is part of the whole experience is being able to stroll through Rome in the evening. Who wants to stay in American style of hotel on the edge of Rome even if it is free?

Agreed. Definitely find someplace in the historic center.
