Greetings amici,
2020 blew our travel plans for Rome for Christmas and New Years. Does anyone have information to share regarding ITALY in the time of COVID? I will be checking the Italian Covid national websites, Rome's regional websites, museum schedules and impact.
Any news would be helpful.
Ciao!
Franco
Sorry, it’s far too early to say what the situation will be in December. Last year, things were very different between September and December and this year maybe the same.
Don't think anyone can forecast with accuracy what it will be next month and December is a long ways away. Sorry for such a weak answer.
We are also looking at Rome for December. It's too early to make final plans but it isn't too early to do research for hotels or apartments. Airlines seem to change their prices up and down but it's worth finding flights that you like on google/flights. They'll keep you updated about prices. Watching the websites for Covid restrictions is essential. And decide what you are comfortable with. Friends of mine just returned. Mask requirements were just about everywhere and they were enforced. Testing too. You have to decide what you are comfortable with. I know, we would all rather be packing our suitcases already!
Follow up: I've reached out to friends and family and the responses are a mixed bag. Some say be responsible and don't come just yet; others are saying the waters fine, jump in.
Sharing my early stages of research on IT's entry from Stati Uniti requirements (cancellations / COVID policy on airlines and hotels not there yet):
