Rome for 2 days with 70 year old Mom.

I saw a similar post but didn't have this specific question....

I have been 2 Rome twice but over 10 years ago... Don't remember much... (Good old backpacking days)

I want to book an airbandb OR Hotel where we can just get out and walk to Vatican or Colloseum? I'm so embarrassed that I don't even remember how close they are to each other. Or if I had to pick an area, which should I pick? Trying to stay under $200 a night budget.

And then any tips on Train to Venice (fastest) would be great. I did a search and found that it's a little over 3 hours, so just wondering best website to purchase those tickets in advance.

And also if we only have those 2 days In Rome, what's the best to do? Ideally a mix of a little shopping and sight seeing. She won't want to walk as much as me.
And finally will my Uber or Lyft app work there?

For the train, it's Trentialia.com. You can get discounts buying up to 120 days ahead, and reservations are required on the fast trains.
The Vatican and the Colloseum are pretty far apart--too far to walk. If you're in the up to $200 price range, I'd suggest staying around The Pantheon. Good restaurants and other popular travel sights are close by.
It's a shame you're only allotting 2 days--for a 4 day minimum great city.
When we're in Rome, we prefer to get around by either the Underground (subway) or mass transit buses. Taxi's are too expensive.
