Rome Food Tours

I am considering taking the Eating Italy Evening Rome food tour. Has anyone done this one? Are there other food tours which are more highly recommended? I'm looking for a food tour which provides information and introduction to unusual foods as well as interesting additional information. Not just one that takes me to a gelato stand and a pizza place. Thanks.

Haven't been yet, we do have it booked for October. We learned about it on this forum . . . lots of very good reviews. You should be able to SEARCH for it on this site . . . I can't remember if it's under the ITALY section, or the FOOD section...

We are taking an Eating Italy food tour when we go to Rome in two weeks time. They were highly recommended by a friend who owns her own cafe, lived in Rome for a while and has been back annually for the past few years. She recommended we take the tour on our first day there (we have 5 days) because they wanted to go back to several of the eateries they visited on the tour.

We did the Evening Trastevere Food Tour. It was the highlight of our trip! We took the tour towards the end of our time in Rome. I agree, do the tour your first few days. It would have been nice to return to the amazing restaurants. It was so fun! The tour takes you to some of the best restaurants, bakeries, and delicatessen! We loved wandering around the Trastervere neighborhood. I felt like a local! You will love it!

I thought I'd follow up on your question. We just got back from our Eating Italy Trastavere Food Tour and highly, highly, highly recommend it. It was an amazing combination of great food (we were stuffed by the time we finished), meeting interesting locals and just a dash of history. Really, really professional and well done.
