Rome food/flower markets

Planning my trip in September. Any ideas on the open markets in the area of Termini or near the Portese flea market? I would like to get something yummy for my long bus ride to Sorrento. Any and all info is appreciated.

Linda, every neighborhood has a little street market. I think Termini has a grocery store (many major train stations do). My best advice would be to pick up something in Campo dei Fiori near Piazza Navona. There are also various salumerie that will make you a sandwich (and also sell other yummies) for your trip.

Linda, there are two grocery stores in the lower levels of the Roma Termini Train Station. The largest and best is the Conad, on the lower level of the "primary" area of the station - on the Via Marsala side of the station, but downstairs. The second, a Despar, is located on the lower level, but out near the satellite tracks (26-29). The Conad has many items specifically geared to take on the train, with accompany utensils. They also have the best price for bottled water in the city! For some pictures of the Conad, head to the photos at the bottom of this article: the Roma Termini Station. There are small cafe's, grocery stores and yes, even a McDonald's (with WIFI) in and around the Porta Portese market area - which occurs on Sundays.

Ron & Zoe: thanks for the answers. I remember now the great store downstairs @ Termini. I purchased something there for a train ride to Assisi on my last trip in 2010. Didn't realize they had the best price for bottled water. I will certainly check it out again. My plan is to go to the Portese Market Sunday morning and catch a Curreie (spell?) bus to Sorrento. Guess I better look up that schedule before getting too far into planning a flea market visit. Thanks again. Linda
