We Have a trip planned for Rome April 16-20, Florence 20-23 and Venice 23-25 I thought Rome wasn't going to be as busy prior to Thurday April 21 for Easter. After reading the posts, will we be able to do all the tourist things like the vatican and the colosseum. How busy is busy? Disney on it's crazy days with a ton of strollers???? I just want to prepare myself. If we try to do the Vatican the day we get in which is Sat. prior to Palm Sunday the best option? My 2 young daughters will be with me.
The Vatican is busy on non-holy weeks :) I have no idea what you can expect, except lots of people, but you can always try to book a tour via the vatican.va website (or a professional guide) and guarantee an entrance. Good luck :)
i was in rome at the same time a couple of years ago and it's not too bad. i went to see the pope's speech at st. peter yes it was crowded but once people start leaving you have less crowd maybe less than you'd get in june or july. not disney crazy, not all day.
THANKS! I am now really excited to visit Rome. Has anyone taken any private tours from WALKS OF ITALY? I was thinking of booking the Vatican, coloseum and the the twilight walk. Maybe a family guide is better than a 20 person group especially with 2 girls (11&13). Any thoughts???
Walks of Italy does a magnificent job. I would take their tours in an instant. We did Prisitine Sistine and the small group size and personal attention contributed to our positive experience. Plan to use them in Pompeii later this year. I also recommend Francesca Caruso ([email protected]) for private tours. You are right on that you will get more out of private tour (we did Ancient Rome with her) for your group. And since you have several people, it will probably cost less for you than individual tickets with tour companies.
