Hi,
Ive just looked at the trenitalia website trying to prebook tickets for Dec 28- Rome to Florence . It says there are none available !! Panicking !! can I still get them on. a different site ?
Relax and take a deep breath. Tickets are not sold out at all. They are simply not available right now because the train schedule for that period is not available yet. Just check the trenitalia website every so often.
Thank you , I was hoping I had misunderstood :)
You are fine. Looks like the winter schedule on Trenitalia switches over on 12/14. You will still be able to purchase your tickets, but they are super slow to upload the new schedule though, so you may have to wait until December to actually purchase. The schedule stays pretty much the same, so you can put in an earlier date and figure out your times, etc. Check weekly, and then when end of November hits, almost daily. Take it from someone who waited and waited for them to upload their new schedule-you will be able to purchase, but have to just wait it out.
Wendy, Trenitalia refreshes their schedules twice a year in mid-June and mid-December. They are always notoriously late in getting the schedules posted. For example, you should be able to look 119 days out and see the best fares. You should be able to see Jan 1, 2014 now but you can't. This really frustrates us frequent posters. Here's the really good news. 1) Just keep looking and they will suddenly appear some day soon. 2) There are 55 hi-speed trains each day from Rome to Florence. Most are non-stop. 400+ seats per train. 1:35hrs for the journey. 3) When the schedules do appear, you should be able to get non-refundable fares as low as 19Euro. 4) Approximately 480,000 people go through Rome-Termini each day. Hopefully, you are to be one of them.
Thanks Maryam , do you recommend pre-buying the tickets ? since its Christmas im sure a lot of Italian families will be travelling .
Have you ever been to Rome at Christmas , are there any must sees ,apart from the Vatican of course.
I do recommend pre-purchasing, not because the train will sell out, but rather the best prices will sell out. You will get super cheap tickets by purchasing ahead.
.Italo treno don't have theirs up yet either.
