Rome, Firenze, Sorrento

Hi
I finally put together our family trip for May 14 thru 26. I’m hoping to get advice on transfers, car service, trains for connecting to the cities. Also, with 1 week in sorrento, any must sees?
Arrive Rome Wednesday May 15 (need to get from airport to Firenze)
Stay Firenze till Saturday May 18. (Transportation to sorrento)
Depart sorrento Saturday May 25 for Rome (train?)
Stay in Rome 1 night and return to US Sunday May 26 10:40am flight

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take Leonard Express to Termini and train to Firenze.

Take train to Naples, Circumvesuvianna (commuter train) to Sorrento and maybe a taxi to your hotel

Reverse to Naples and train to Rome or there are two buses a day from Sorrento to Rome. (Probably an easier way to go if the times match up.)

Take taxi, train or shared shuttle to airport.

Depending when you arrive, there are 2 trains per day from the FCO train station directly to Florence ( at 11:08 and 15:08)

There are also other choices that do not require going to Rome Termini

I probably wouldn't spend a week in Sorrento except as a base for lots of day trips. There's little to see or do in the town itself. The train/bus station is a short walk from the main piazza, but the sea (beaches and ferries) is down a lot of stairs. There are day trips:
Capri by ferry
Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples by train
Amalfi coast by bus or ferry

Rather than a whole week in Sorrento spend several nights on Capri or the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento is pleasant but used as a base for visiting other places most of the time.

If there are more than two of you traveling, a taxi to Roma Termini will be less expensive.

Are you still planning on visiting extended family at their vineyard?

If you go thru Naples, getting to Sorrento, please especially watchful for pickpockets. We ran into two of them at the Naples train station. They will start on the train and then make like its the wrong train and come back out the entrance. They did that as we were getting on the train to Sorrento. Didn't get mine.

Thanks all for the info. Yes we’re visiting family in avellino, hence the week in Sorrento. Planning on day trips from there.
