Rome FCO transfer to town

Anyone have a suggestion for a transfer from FCO to Rome central. Would probably like a private car. After a long trip and Jet Lag looking for an easy way to get to out airbnb.

Just take a taxi. We were planning to take the express train, but we walked right out of our gate practically into the taxi lineup, so it was easy. We got dropped off at our door (no need to transfer to the metro and then walk a couple of blocks), and the cost was ~40 Euros, if I remember correctly.

Taxi is a set rate, very simple
Get your bags, go outside and get in taxi line
Have your address printed on an index card/ paper hand it to the driver along with the 50 euros
No tip needed

Do not go with anyone who offers a taxi, only use the official line

( I think rate is now 50? Was 48- hopefully Dario will confirm)

If it's just 2 people travelling, the taxi for $48 euros is the way to go. More than 2 travelling, I use Rome Cabs car service. They meet you just outside the terminal and help with your luggage to where the car is parked. 1/2 hour later you are being dropped off at the door of your destination, all for only $55 euros.

We have used the car service toddw mentioned several time and will do so again. After a long flight it is very nice to have a driver meet you inside the terminal and wisk you to the hotel. It cost a little more than a regular taxi, but it is well worth it. The company known as Rome Cabs is definitely a car service and not a taxi company despite the name. We send an email detailing our needs and get an answer within 24 hours. Needless to say, we've always been pleased with their service.
This is the link to their site. https://www.romecabs.com/.

The taxi is fixed from airport to central Rome -- within the old city walls. It is higher at night but I don't remember what time the night time rate kicks in.

From FCO to inside the Walls the taxi is euro 50.

Over the years I have used the bus (hated it - but I don't much like busses), both trains (the local and the Leonardo Express - the local was great when I was younger and stayed in Monti), private cars, and taxis.

I opt for the taxi now, but watch for scams, even in an official taxi. Sometimes the driver will try to take more than one person/set of passengers and then try to charge you more because the other passenger(s) did not go inside the Walls or because it 'took me longer.' If there is anyone in the cab, don't get in. Just walk to the next one in the line. Your taxi should be private for you.

Can confirm -- 50 euro flat fee -- just used this in the last few days on a trip to Rome. 100% worth the cost. Made getting to the hotel SO easy and quick.

We will be coming in to Rome around 5:15 pm and have a hotel in Trastevere booked. Will the cost still be 50 EUro to Travstevere?

Actually our experience with Rome cab drivers over the years has been very good. All have been honest and helpful. Will not say the same for Genoa or Naples. Just use the cab que or starter at the airport.

What about folks traveling with party of 4 (2 adults, 2kids). Are the standard Taxis large enough or need to hire a car in advance?

I too would like to avoid dealing with a train/transfers after traveling all Night with kids

I’ve been thinking about getting a taxi to take me from my Airbnb near Trevi Fountain to FCO when I leave Monday morning. I fly out at 10:30, so will plan to get there 7:30-8am. Would that be 50 euros flat fee as well and do they take credit cards? I doubt I’ll have enough cash left by the end of my trip. Thanks!

KRS
Yes and yes

You’ll want to arrange ahead of time, you can’t just flag a taxi down

Hotel Smeraldo sent "limo" for 55 Euro. Nice Mercedes. Likely handle 3-4 people with reasonable baggage.

Bumping up this old thread because I realized I never got a answer to this question:

There are taxi vans
You may have to wait a few til one arrives or there could be one there already
AFAIK passengers cannot sit in front seat

Two adults and two sons with a carry on each fit in most cabs. We never had any problems.
