Rome FCO Airport Arrival Time?

Flight out of Rome FCO at 8am out of Terminal 3 to London. British Air. It's a Monday morning.

Thinking of catching the first train out of Trastevere (5:13) which should put me to the airport by 5:49am.

Cutting it too close or should I just plan for a cab/transport?

Thanks!

I know, and I was the one who piped up and asked about T3, as it seems like those heading directly to the US via Terminal 3 are having the longest lead time.

So thought I'd ask here and see if anyone had a specific T3 experience of late. We'll see! My husband goes out the day before, so we'll see what his experience is like and I can adapt accordingly.

Check-in closes 45 min prior to departure, so you need to have checked in and have a boarding pass prior to 07:15. I have never been in line at the check in over 15-20 min max. 45 minutes have always been plenty of time to go through security and reach the gate in my experience at FCO, So in my opinion 75 minutes prior to departure are sufficient. Make it 90 minutes for extra piece of mind. Be at the airport by 06:30 and you will be fine.

We flew BA from Rome to London on a Thursday morning a couple of weeks ago. We flew out of T5, so this may not be relevant. But it was very fast and smooth. We checked in online 24 hours ahead, but we still had to go to the BA desk at the airport to get our boarding passes. We took a cab from Trastevere (cab stand by Ponte Sisto, flat rate of €48). The ride only took about 35 minutes and we were through check-in and security in less than 30 minutes. But on another day, and a different terminal, things could be different.
