Looking for a kid friendly hotel in a good location in Rome. Traveling with a 6 year old girl. Plan to see: Colosseum, Pantheon, Vatican, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona. Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Jennifer
What is a "kid friendly" hotel? Do you want on site baby sitters, playground, etc. ?
I guess rather than family friendly -- I just mean a good central location, nice/safe hotel, bathroom in our room.
Thanks
Any of the hotels listed in Steves' Rome guide would met your criteria. We prefer to stay in the Termini area for the transit convenience. It is on the edge of the tourist area so it is not central as you requested but all of the major sites are easy walking distance except for the Vatican which is about an hour walk from Termini. All hotels are family friendly because that is what stays there most of the time - families.
Jennifer, I recommend a b&b called Suites Piazza del Popolo. Located on Via Flaminia, it's between the Tiber and Borghesi Gardens. It's in a modern apartment building (with an elevator) and the owner allows access to a small kitchen so you can help yourself to beverages at any time. Although Via Flaminia is a busy street, this is a fairly quiet neighborhood and there's even a small playground across the street. There are restaurants within easy walking distance, and there is public transportation that will quickly take you to the main tourist areas. The website is www.suitespiazzadelpopolo.com. Feel free to write if you have any questions.
Hi Jennifer,
We stayed at Albero del Senato with our 2 teenagers. It's about 15 steps from the Pantheon...unbelievable location. Not sure what your budget is..I'd say this is mid-range. You won't believe the location. Stay in one of the regular rooms, not in the apartment. Loved it.
Oops! Thats Albergo del Senato. Forgot the "G"
