Rome during public holiday 6/2 republic day

I will be heading on a quick 4 day trip to Rome and one of the days of our trip falls on this holiday. Will any stores or restaurants be open? What about outside of Rome? Any suggestions on what we can do that day?

We have been in Rome on two Republic Days. It wasn't any different than any other day other than it was more crowded and more street vendors. Kind of festive. Don't know about outside the city.
