ROME - Domus Aurea Experience

We have our 3rd trip to Rome in September. Since we've seen all the major sites, I really wanted to get tickets for the Domus Aurea Experience. I have searched and searched the Coopculture website and can't find a link for this tour. Has something changed recently that would prevent buying tickets for this? I'm driving myself crazy doing searches. I want to do this directly with the official website, rather than through a third party. If you are able to find it, can you send me the link? Or advise what has happened to this experience?

We booked through the Parco archeologico del Colosseo site, which I do believe is the official site. I don't know if I can link the website, but if you google 'Rome Domus Aurea Tickets' the parco archeologico site will come up. When you go into it make sure you click on 'tickets for guided tours available HERE' and you will see the booking availability (only Fri, Sat, & Sun of course)

Thank you! I was looking at the coopculture site instead of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo site. Now when I go to the website you’ve provided, it doesn’t mention that it’s a virtual reality tour. Can I assume if I pick a Fri, Sat or Sun it will automatically be a virtual reality experience?

When we went a couple of years ago, you were taken on a tour of the site first. Then, when the tour was over, you were led to some benches with VR viewers on them. Everyone sat down and did their own VR tour of the site. It was excellent!

We did this in June, and it was interesting. It is cool in the Domus (even if Rome is sweltering). The VR part was a definite highlight!

Tickets open 30 days ahead to the minute. So I figured out what time I wanted to go, then went to the site 30 days to the minute, and I could book. If you get on the site just before 30 days, you might just see that earlier times are shown (and probably booked up).

So it would be 30 days and then the time you want (but based on Rome time)? For example, if I want tickets at 16:00, I would go on at 8:00 my time (I’m in Arizona)?

Yes - for me Rome is 6 hours ahead. For example - for a 2pm tour on July 31, that booking slot would open on July 1 at 8am my time. Exactly 30 days to the minute!

Thank you everyone! I think I have what I need now.
