Rome Daily Transportation Ticket - Which Trenitalia Regional Trains?

I want to use daily (unlimited) transportation tickets in Rome for a few days until my Roma Pass kicks in; here's what they're good on: From the ATAC (Rome metro, etc.) site: "On public transport within Rome: - on buses, trams, trolleybuses and Cotral coaches
- on the metro lines A and B - on Met.Ro regional trains: Rome-Lido, Rome-Viterbo, Rome-Pantano - on Trenitalia regional trains (travelling second class)" When would this be useful to me - as an alternative mode besides the metro or bus b/n Termini and Tiburtina train stations? Any other time/situation? Are these 'grand trains', or does "Trenitalia regional trains" mean something I'm not considering? Like the "FR" trains? THAT would be convenient...

Hi Eileen. I'm guessing your example between Termini and Tiburtina is right, and one of the few places it would apply, since it must be within Rome. Trenitalia regional trains are the slower, basic trains that travel to smaller towns throughout Italy. Enjoy your trip!

Eileen, the regionale train between the two stations should be fine. However, the metro is not bad either. In termmini, you go down to the metro and take the Metro B to Rabbibia. Tiburtina is the 4th stop. Have fun. I want to hear all about it. It will be probably the October meeting before Andrea and I can get to our Sacramento group and share all of our travels. My wife and I are off to Spain and France on 9/21. Andrea is 4 days behind us on most of the same journey.

Thanks Bob and Larry! I couldn't think of anyplace else in the Roma region that I'd want to ride a regional train, but I'd sure hate to miss out on something ;-) It would be handy to ride a 'big' train b/n Tiburtina and Termini if I was transferring b/n 2 big' trains...and skip the up-and-down-the-stairs of the metro. "Andrea is 4 days behind us on most of the same journey." Scary, isn't it ;-)
