Flying Alitalia from Brindisi to Rome 8:10am arrival for separate ticket United to Newark departing 9:55am. No luggage. Will this work?
I expect that United will want you there 3 hours ahead. What did they tell you?
If the Brindisi flight is late for any reason, what will you do?
Thanks. I think the better option is to go the night before to Rome and stay at airport hotel, less charm but less worry.
That is tight in case of delayed arrival.
I think you will arrive at T1, while UA check in is at T5, reachable via shuttle bus.
Hopefully there are no delays and no lines at T5. You will need to have the boarding pass in your hands 45 min prior to departure. They close the check in for the flight at 9:10. So by 9:10 you must be in T5 with check-in done and boarding pass in your hands. After that you will go through security and passport control at T5, once on the sterile area there will be a bus airside which will take you from T5 to T3 where the airplane is (T5 is just a check in processing hangar but no airplanes depart from there). Once at T3 you need to take the people mover to the boarding area G.
Thanks. I think discretion dictates getting to Rome the night before.
David, good for you for asking.
Depending on when the flight gets into Rome, consider going to the city for your last night. It's not hard to get to FCO at 7 am.
