Rome Colosseum / Palatine Hill / Forum tickets

Hello, I will be traveling to Rome for 1 day on the first Sunday of the month in June and I see that I can't buy tickets for the Colosseum because it's a free day . It has been very difficult to organize the day because I don't know how to make sure we get tickets for the Colosseum. We will be getting to Rome around 8:30 am (train station). My question is: how long are the lines to get tickets around 8:45 am or 9 am? If the line is long for the colosseum, can I get tickets for the 3 sites (the Palatine Hill / Forum and Colosseum) at the Palatine Hill Entrance? I read that you can get the same ticket at different entrances? Any other advice?

Thank you!
Manuel

Hi Manolo and welcome to the forums -
Here's the current info on Free Sundays from the official website:

https://colosseo.it/en/2024/03/free-entries-25-april-2-june-4-november-2024/

According the website, there is only one office - in Piazza del Colosseo, located near the Temple of Venus and Rome - available for acquiring tickets on free-entry days. I would expect the line to be VERY long by the time you get there. As far as I know, there are no tickets or tours sold by outside companies for Free Sundays. Honestly, if you only have a day to explore Rome, I'd opt for seeing just the exterior and moving on but you could go look at how long the line is and how fast it's moving before making the decision. Have your passports with you.

Hi, Kathy. I appreciate your information about these tickets. It sounds like we'll have to get to the Colosseum early to be able to get the tickets for these 3 sites.

Thanks,

Manolo
