Rome Colosseum

Hello,
I can’t decide on which ticket to purchase for the Rome Colosseum.
There’s the basic ticket and then one that does the arena. There’s a third ticket but it’s already sold out.
Is it worth going into the Arena?

Thank you in advance for any comments.

Hi Northwest adventurer -

We visited the Colosseum in August this past summer (2021). We had the ticket with entrance to the arena. We did not have the ticket with entrance to the underground (it was sold out - I’m assuming this is also the one that is sold out on your date). We were very glad to have the arena ticket. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience - the view you get standing on the partial “floor” of the arena is really something. And even though we couldn’t access the underground portion, you can see quite a bit of it, quite clearly, from the arena floor. If you happen to be going in the hotter months, be aware that it will be very hot in the Colosseum. It was 100 degrees on our visit, with full sun. We actually used (and were grateful for), sun umbrellas and neck cooling towels. Enjoy your trip!

Hi from me too, Northwest -
So you mentioned the basic, the arena, and a "third" ticket"? I'm assuming you mean the one which includes the underground? There are actually 3 economical options for the underground + arena so in case you didn't check dates for all of them....

Here is this is the 24-euro ticket for a guided tour of the underground, and non-guided access to the arena and other general areas:
https://www.coopculture.it/en/products/full-experience-ticket-with-access-to-the-arena-and-underground-of-the-colosseum/

And then there's this 34-euro ticket that includes a guided tour of the underground, arena plus all the other accessible areas:
https://www.coopculture.it/en/products/the-wonders-of-the-colosseum-visiting-the-underground-and-the-arena/

In both cases above, the ticket includes entry to the Palatine and forum (but no guided tour of those sites).

There's also this night tour option if in Rome on a Friday or Saturday:
https://www.coopculture.it/en/products/colosseum-by-night-00002/
This one does not include Palatine/Forum entry.

Hope one of them might work for you? What dates are you looking at?
