Rome Colosseum arena closure email?

Good morning!
Just wondering if anyone else received an email this morning about the closure of the arena floor from June 4-8? I pre purchased the tour and that’s the email I just received. Just to be sure, that’s the very top floor correct? It said the underground and first floor would still be open.

The arena floor is a platform extending partway over the underground. You can see it in some of the photos for this tour (I'm not promoting the tour, just using the photos as examples):

The original floor would have covered the entire space, and is where the battles and other spectacles would have taken place. The "very top floors" is what they call the Belvedere.

Glad i didn't buy the Walks of Italy tour that includes the "arena floor" for a premium (I missed out on the official guided tours).

I received this email too. Disappointed for sure. I emailed and they said the tour would be shorter than normal - you don't get access to a different area in its place. And they don't seem to give you a partial refund since you get a shorter tour.

I'm looking into other tour options but they are pricey and not at the best times for us.

The "floor" is just one little part of the Colosseum. As I just posted to someone else, the partial "floor" wasn't installed until the mid 90's, and no one who'd visited before that point felt like they'd missed out. Neither do people who choose tickets or tours which don't include it. The highlights are what you'll learn about the greater structure - how it was used, what it would have looked like, etc. - so I wouldn't fret about this one single piece being inaccessible.

Rome is FULL of wonders every bit as interesting, or more, than this one so don't let this little snag spoil your day.

Thank you for the replies.
We are not overly worried about the closure. The remaining open areas will still be awesome to see. My husband and I have already been on the tour. This is more for our 23 yr old son this trip. He’ll be happy with what’s available. (He won’t know the difference!)
I’m sure it will still be amazing!
