rome coliseum

We will be visiting the Coliseum in Rome in Sept and would like info on seeing the lower level. Does anyone know if that requires a separate ticket? Guided Tour? Advance reservations? Is it covered with the ComboPass? I'm not sure how to avoid missing the opportunity.....please advise...Thanks!

It is my understanding that the lower level requires a separate ticket and is not cover by the museum pass.

Check the Ron in Rome website. He's the go to guy about all things Rome. Bet he has the answers to your questions in one of his posts.

The Underground Tour is not included in the Roma Pass. You need to make a reservation for the tour. I called last week and reserved for September. You can't make the reservation online. Here is the number to call. You will first here a message in Italian. Just hang on the line until someone answers. You will be able to make your reservation in English. The number is 011-39-06-399967700. I was able to charge it to my credit card. Be sure to tell the operator that you will be using your Roma Pass for the regular entrance fee. It was really easy to book.

The combo ticket for the colosseum, forum and palatine hill does not cover the tour of the underground level of the colosseum. The romapass doesn't cover it either. It's a totally separate fee. You cannot see the underground without being on a guided tour. You can book the entry ticket and the tour or just the tour by calling 011 39 0639967700. Let the operator know if you'll be using the romapass for entry or they will charge you for entry as well as the tour. Donna
