Hello, I'm trying to figure out the logistics of getting between these two. I know I need to get from the airport over to the Ciampino train station and then ride the train to Termini station. I was looking at the Ciampino airport site and it mentions two bus companies (Cotral and Schiaffini) that travel between the airport and the train station. However, after looking through their websites I can't seem to find any logical info about this. Instead, it seems as if it's only showing the bus route between the airport and Rome (the long way). Does anyone have experience doing this and can offer some details in terms of how often these buses run and if they indeed go to Ciampino train station? Thanks.

I don't think there would be so many direct buses competing on the Ciampino Airport to Termini Station route if the train were really an easier alternative. Google Maps and Rome2rio both show only a taxi between the airport and Ciampino rail station.

So is the airport website info wrong? To me it seems like taking a bus directly from CIA to Termini would be about the same time, if not more time, than the train. I arrive early Monday morning and I bet there would be tons of traffic heading into the city. I saw that there is a Sitbusshuttle that runs between the airport and Termini, but after looking at reviews online it seems like a dicey option. Who's to say I'll get lucky and find a seat on the bus if everyone that exits the airport decides to get on it? So, I guess I'll wait to hear from others or I'll go with plan B and either ask at the airport if there is a bus going to Ciampino city (train station) or take a taxi to this train station. After that it's just a 15 minute ride to Termini, which is super fast.

I have only taken an airport shuttle once lately, from FCO to Roma Termini. I assume they all operate the same way: buy your ticket at the bus kiosk, you will have a seat for the next available shuttle if it is a shuttle-type bus. Don't know about COTRAL.
