Rome/Celiac plus teen

Traveling to Rome in April with my celiac husband and my 16 year old daughter. April 6-14. Staying in Trastevere. Looking for any all suggestions for celiacs and/or teenage girls.
What might be the best day trip? Fun activities for a 16 year old?
We have colosseum and Vatican tours set up. Will probably set up a couple more. Need to balance with fun activities for the teen!

Thanks!

We have taken teens all over Italy. Fun things?
All of it. The girls loved shopping for leather bags.
They all loved gelato stops.
We have a celiac teen too. Take a card translated into Italian explaining that your husband has celiac disease and include his restrictions.

Hello Kate,
I don't know if it is an Italian or an EU law or an advisory but I was surprised on a recent trip it seemed like all the menus I saw in Italy were extensively marked per dietary ingredients.
Gluten, vegetarian, vegan etc. There were markings by all the individual dishes or footnote numbers and an extensive listing of what all the numbers mean in terms of ingredients.

I definitely agree that you need to be clear it is an allergy and not a 'preference' but I also trust that Italians have a very in deoth understanding of their food and ingredients if you can communicate about it.

Have a great trip!
