Rome car rental pickup

Due to work our plans have changed..now we will be staying in Rome at the Crowne Plaza Rome St Peters hotel and picking up a rental car from there to drive to Montefalco (Friday afternoon). I see that there is a rental office - Rome city office- Cipro on Via Degli Ammiragli 107 near the hotel.
Has anyone driven out from there? Would I be better off renting from the Tiburtina location? I really would like the most stress free way out of Rome.

We plan to return the rental in Bologna...any recommendation as to best drop off location there? We are staying at a B&B in the center on D'Azeglio.
Thanks so much

You live in the Seattle metro area, so you shouldn't be afraid of city driving. Driving in Rome, especially outside the city center, is not that difficult. Turn left on Via Anastasio then go straight all the way to the autostrade. It's big boulevards, nothing difficult. Just don't do it in the afternoon when everybody is getting out of work. After 10am is good. Use a gps or use Google maps in your phone.

Europcar has two offices in Bologna, one at the airport and one near the central station. The latter is a short taxi ride to your destination. The airport is a bit farther out of town, so it will cost you a bit more in taxi fare.

Getting lost while you drive is part of life. It happens sometimes to the best of us in unfamiliar parts of our own cities. But nowadays with GPS technology, asking for directions is not even necessary. The GPS was certainly invented by a man.

Thanks Roberto - I appreciate the reassurance. There's so many posts about ZTLs and avoiding city driving that even though we are confident drivers it's off putting.

Taking your suggestion and taking the scenic route from Umbria to Bologna...thanks for that, too.

Now just have to wait til midApril.....
