Rome - Calgiari

Anyone have suggestions for getting from Rome to Calgiari? What's your impression of the city and of Sardinia?

I visited Sardinia for ten days + four days on Corsica two years ago. It’s a one hour flight to Càgliari from FCO on Alitalia and I believe Ryan Air flies there from Ciampino airport. The islands don’t have major “wow” sights but they have many interesting places to visit, beautiful coastlines and beaches and are uniquely Sardinian and Corsican. I loved my time there and hope to return in the future. The scenery is magnificent!

Càgliari is a compact city with quite a few interesting places to visit. To see the islands, you need a car but not till you leave Càgliari. If you can, go off season when prices drop dramatically. My trip began in Càgliari on about the 18th of September. I drove up the east coast of the island, took the ferry from Santa Teresa to Corsica and drove around the island anti clockwise. I then ferried back to Sardinia and drove down the west coast.

Nothing to see there, move along. These aren't the Italian cities you're looking for. You can go about your business... ;)
